Cardozo Argentine Tango
Professional Dancer
Walter
Cardozo was born in Buenos Aires. His education as a tango dancer
started in 1987. After taking his teaching degree in folk dances,
he improved tango technique and styles studying with Rodolfo Dinzel
and Gustavo Naveira, in 1990.
In
Argentina, he took part to several television programs, among which
“Grandes valores del Tango” and “Teleobjectivo”. He performed in
the shows La Historia del Tango and Crecer en 2x4, realized at Centro
Cultural General San Martin; in addition, he appeared in diverse
shows and events with the Tango Orchestra of Buenos Aires. As a
permanent dancer of Ballet Buenos Aires Tango, he won the first
“Hispanic-American Biennial of Young Arts”, organized by Secreteria
de Cultura of Buenos Aires.
In
1996, he became director of Ballet Municipal de Zarate, at request
by Secretaria de Cultura of the Province of Buenos Aires. He performed
in various casas de tango of Buenos Aires, among which La Veda and
Cafè Homero.
He
moved to Italy in 1997, where he developed his intense artistic
activity, while performing in several milongas and theatres.
In
addition, he took part to the following shows and events:
“Profumo di Tango” at the Roman Theatre in Verona with Milva and
Vinicio Capossela.
"Giornata Internazionale di Tango Argentino": performance
on the dance floor of the antique and prestigious Caffè Pedrocchi
in Padua.
"Festa della Musica": performances in various squares
of Milan’s historic centre, with the accompaniment by Estilo Tango
orchestra, with whom he also collaborated at Cà Bianca in Milan
in 1999-2000.
Performance in the Maffeiana Hall of Accademia Filarmonica of Verona
with the show “Tango Variationen”.
"Primo Festival di Tango Argentino" organized by the Municipality
of Brescia and the Tango mi vida Association.
Performance in Forte dei Marmi with the orchestra Progetto Piazzolla
and bandoneon player Juan José Mosalini jr.
" Festival Internazionale di Tango Argentino Riviera dei Ciclopi"
in Acicastello (Catania), organized by Caminito Tango Association
of Catania (in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006).
Performance
at the milonga Il Paradiso di Sedico (Belluno) accompanied by Terapia
Tango Group.
Performance – accompanied by bandoneon player Rodolfo Mederos –
during the television charity marathon for Argentina, that was live
telecast worldwide by RAI Sat.
Together
with his current partner Margarita Klurfan, he keeps on to collaborate
with many associations and dance schools, besides taking part to
festivals and tango events, such as: Bridge Project with the musicians
of Trio Revirado in Berlin, Crakow and Warsaw (Sept. 2003); Atlantide
Festival at Teatro Nuovo of Verona with Tango x 3 group and Accademia
i Filarmonici (March 2006) ; quartet Four Four Tango at the Philarmonic
Theatres of Warsaw and Krakov (June 2006).
In
2005, the couple was invited by the contemporary dance company Naturalis
Labor (Vicenza) as tango choreographers and dancers for the show
Declaracion, presented at Comacchio Danza 2005/8 (Ferrara), Operastate
of Bassano (Vicenza) 2005, Brescia Festival di Danza 2006, Verdi
Theatre of Pisa, Carignano Theatre of Torino, Camploy Theatre of
Verona, Vignale Danza 2006, Treffpunkt Stuttgart (Germany) 2006,
Festival Abano Danza (Padua) 2006, etc.
